Pregnancy Week 8

By the time you get to pregnancy week 8, the baby is of about 20 mm and he or she starts to look more human.

What is the baby going through during the 8th week of pregnancy?

You might know that up to now the baby had a little tail, which slowly starts to disappear. One of the interesting things that happen in this period is that the eyelids of the little one start to take shape, and the legs and arms also develop, so he or she will look more proportional.

It’s not just the outside that develops, but the brain as well, creating more and more nerve cells. These are the cells that will make it possible for the baby to be able to talk after being born.

The lungs also start to develop but there is still a long time before the baby will be able to breathe on his own. You may have heard that one of the most common problems among the babies that get born prematurely is lung problems.

What about developments in the mother’s body?

It is a funny fact that during pregnancy week 8 you look bloated rather than pregnant. Here are a lot of women who say that they look chubby when they are pregnant. Nonetheless keep in mind that there is new life inside you.

During the pregnancy week 8 the uterus grows a great deal, compared to the original size. Those women who have twins or that had previous pregnancies show that they are pregnant earlier than the other women.

What else changes?

By the 8th week of pregnancy you may see the world around you with different eyes, and for sure you feel pregnant. One of the major things that you will experience is breast growth. It is common for women to experience breast growth of one or even more sizes.

This usually happens at the end of the pregnancy when the body starts creating breast milk to be able to feed the baby. Although this could be something bothersome, there are a lot of women who consider it one of the best aspects of pregnancy.

If you experience such growth, you might want to get bras that are bigger to make sure that you are comfortable.
